First meeting

I met with Mike for the first time yesterday afternoon. We discussed a number of his stories and he was able to give me some names and details. There are still a number of holes in the stories. Mike's memory is not what it used to be. But, I have some ways of following up on the "leads".

I was concerned by something Mike told me. He could not remember the names of the men but "two fellows from one of his schools" have visited him "a couple of times" but, he cannot remember what they wanted. I called my step-son and with Mike we have agreed I will be present for any "visitors". So far, nothing is missing, but elder abuse is rampant in this country. Not what I was planning, but I'll step up.

Meanwhile, I found out the schedule of Mike's boyhood friend Gillett and am going to call him tomorrow to schedule a time we can visit . I love Gillett. I have not seen him in a couple of years. We traveled with him a number of times to Mexico and Guatemala. He, Mike and their friend, Jack (deceased) owned a 1810 farmhouse with all the original furnishings in Western Massachusetts since the 1950's. The property went into a land trust for Mike's and Jack's children a number of years ago (Gillett has no children). It's a magical place.

This morning, I had a very productive coaching session with Maggie. I have an idea how I want to write the Introduction. Thank you, Maggie.

Over the next couple of busy days (MWPA annual fund raiser), I plan to write a Wikipedia entry for Mike to approve. At that same Friday meeting, I also want to have an outline for the book. Today, Harry and I discussed how I will address Mike's typographic descriptions on the Font Bureau blog. Mike's descriptions are spot on. I will co-operate with the Font Bureau.
